Terms of Service
Last updated October 19, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and CoffeeChat (“we”) for using the app. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use CoffeeChat
- You must be 18 or older.
- Student accounts require a valid .edu email address at a college or university where you are currently enrolled.
- Mentor accounts apply with a work email instead. A mentor applies, and can use CoffeeChat only once our team approves the application. We may decline or end any mentor account.
- One account per person, with your real name and a real, current photo of you.
- You can’t use CoffeeChat if we have banned you before.
2. Your account
Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us right away at coffeechat.dev.team@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.
3. Community rules
Be real and be decent. You agree not to:
- Impersonate anyone, or use photos that aren’t of you (including AI-generated ones).
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone, on or off the app.
- Post hate speech, sexual content, violence, or anything illegal.
- Share anyone else’s private information, or intimate images of anyone.
- Spam, sell, recruit for pyramid or multi-level schemes, or ask for money.
- Post content you don’t have the right to share, including other people’s copyrighted work.
- Scrape, automate, reverse engineer, overload, or try to get around the app’s security or limits.
Mentors also agree to be truthful about their work and the college they went to; not to sell anything to students (courses, coaching, services); not to ask them for money; not to recruit students for a job; not to ask a student out or make anything romantic or sexual of a coffee chat; and to keep what a student tells them private.
4. Meeting in person
Coffee chats happen in the real world, and you decide whether and where to meet. We don’t run background checks, and we can’t guarantee who anyone is, even with a verified check. Meet in busy public places, tell a friend where you are going, arrange your own ride, and leave if anything feels off. We are not a party to your meetings and are not responsible for what happens at them. Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable; if you are in danger, call 911.
5. Your content
You own what you post: your profile, photos, resume, messages and practice answers. To run the app, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, display and transmit that content to the people you share it with, for as long as it is on CoffeeChat. The license ends when you delete the content or your account. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
6. Copyright
We respect intellectual property and expect you to. If you believe something on CoffeeChat infringes your copyright, send us a notice as described on our Copyright Policy page and we will remove it promptly. We disable the accounts of repeat infringers.
7. Reports and enforcement
You can report someone from your conversation with them. A person on our team reviews every report. We may remove content, suspend accounts (read-only), or ban accounts that break these terms, with or without notice. If you think we got it wrong, email coffeechat.dev.team@gmail.com.
8. AI practice features
Practice questions and answer grades may be generated by AI. They are practice tools, not professional career advice, and they can be wrong. Don’t put sensitive personal information in practice answers.
9. Price
CoffeeChat is free. There are no fees, trials or subscriptions. If we ever offer paid features, we will show you the price and terms before you pay, never charge you without your clear consent, and make canceling as easy as signing up.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile; it is permanent and removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put other people at risk.
11. Disclaimers and limits
CoffeeChat is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We may change, pause or end features at any time. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for the conduct of other users on or off the app, and our total liability to you is limited to $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
12. Law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA. When we update them we change the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app about any important change before it takes effect. Continuing to use CoffeeChat after that means you accept the new terms.
